RM726   Phosphohedyphane with quartz

These curious specimens from Taouz mine were collected in February 2013. These cavities are covered by hexagonal prismatic crystals of greenish to yellow color, opaque to translucent, forming nice aggregates. Interestingly, some of the cavities are coated by brilliant small quartz crystals, giving an excellent contrast to the specimen. Iniatilly, these crystals were identified as pyromorphite, but after new SEM-EDS analysis, we can confirm that these crystals contain calcium, with chlorine, phosphorus and lead. This is the first citation of this species in Taouz. 3r1f5y
